Fast Pitch Rules

  • Rosters 4-8 players
  • Everyone bats in the line up but only 4 max allowed in the field.
  • Min 3 players required to start a game
  • 2 games per league night
  • No actual base running, but a player stands on base to keep track of runners.
  • A runner must touch home plate for run to count (also so viewers can see on camera)
  • 5 inning games. If tied, 2 extra innings, start with 1 out and bases loaded.
  • Clean balls, no cracks, not dirty.
  • League age is 21+
  • Batters start with an 0-0 count.
  • A season is 15 weeks plus playoffs on 16th week. 3 seasons/year. Winter/Spring/Summer
  • A player must run out a home run and touch home plate.
  • If a runner is hit with a batted ball, he is out and the batter is credited with a single and no other runners advance.
  • Big Bats allowed, no tape on barrel.
  • 15 runs auto ends game instantly.
  • 10 run rule after 3 complete.

Batting

  • Hands are considered a part of the bat.
  • If you are thrown 4 balls, you must take the walk.
  • A batter can hit the ball off a bounce.
  • If you are hit by a pitch, it is ruled a ball.
  • If a batter is hit “hard” in the face, he may choose to take a walk.
  • You may switch batters boxes in your at bat 1 time, but you may not after the pitcher has started their motion.
  • If you use a bat that is illegal and you hit the ball fair it will be ruled an automatic out.
  • Bat must be held by handle.
  • If a team bats out of order and the other team finds out in the middle of the at bat the right player will go up with the same count but if they find out after the player’s at bat is over they are ruled out automatically.
  • An intentional walk may be declared, no pitches needed.
  • A player cannot lean in on the plate intentionally to get hit by the pitch and in addition must make an effort to get out of the way on a pitch with potential of hitting the strike zone.

Field Rules

  • If a player hits a ball into a tree the ball is ruled dead. If the tree was in foul ground, it’s a foul ball, if the tree was in homerun territory, it’s ruled a homerun.
  • A player must have their feet in bounds for it to be an out
  • If a player catches a ball and then falls over a fence it will be judged on when they caught the ball.

Fielding

  • To complete an out, an infielder must field the ball before it stops moving and throw it and hit the strike zone or back stop in the air.
  • Any part of the backstop, middle, sides, poles are okay and the fielder may bobble it or knock it down first as long as it doesn’t touch the OF grass
  • A batter reaches on error when: A.) A dropped routine fly ball. or B.) An infielder on a ground ball that makes a bad throw or botches the ball without it touching the OF grass
  • Double Play: with a runner on first, a ground ball must be fielded cleanly (no bobble) before the line and thrown to a different fielder covering 2nd base who must catch it without dropping it and hit the middle backstop section or strike zone in the air.
  • Double Play: If the 2nd baseman drops the ball into the outfield or the throw lands in the outfield, it’s ruled a dirty single. (batter reaches on error)
  • A pop up or line drive cannot be dropped for a double play
  • If a player catches the ball in the air it is an out.
  • If a runner gets in the way or interferes with the fielder the runner is out.
  • If a player comes out of the game for any reason they can’t come back in.
  • Any ball that touches the outfield grass is a single
  • A ball that stops rolling in the IF before a fielder touches it is a bunt single
  • Any ball that touches the wall is a double
  • Any ball that hits the wall in the air is a triple, over the wall HR.

Pitching

  • The pitcher needs to be touching the pitching rubber with there foot on his/her motion.
  • 48 ft mound distance from pitchers rubber to strike zone.
  • No speed limit.
  • There are no balks.
  • If a pitcher comes out in the game they can’t come back later in the game.
  • A pitcher must face a min of 3 batters unless it’s the end of an inning.
  • 4 balls for a walk.
  • The first foul tip into the strike zone with 2 strikes is considered a foul, the 2nd foul tip into the strike with 2 strikes is strike 3. (catcher catches the 2nd one)
  • If a pitcher hits an excessive amount of batters in a game, they have to be taken out of the game.
