Tournament Report – Adam Tanic

RIR Wiffle’s own Adam Tanic flew out to the East Coast to play in his first fast pitch wiffle tournament.

United Wiffle hosted the Fast Pitch wiffle ball championships in York, PA at the beautiful People’s Bank Stadium. Over 50 players showed up on Friday for the Homerun Derby. Adam who some would considered an easy pick for the final 12 had a disappointing showing only hitting 4 homeruns in his derby debut.

Final 12 Advance to Round 2.

Congrats to Jordan Robles who hit over 25 HRs in each of the final rounds to win the cash prize.

Saturday featured 40 fast pitch teams which battled out for over 12 hours of 4 inning games until there were 16 left for Sunday.

Tournament Recap – Adam’s Team – The Replacements

Game 1: (loss) Replacements 0 vs Way2Beautiful 1

Adam’s Fast Pitch debut on the mound, decided to go with a “cut ball” for the first time and threw hard but only had confidence in 1 pitch, fast ball and although threw a no hitter in extra innings, it was his control that ultimately lost the game as he gave up 4 walks in the bottom of the 5th to end the game.

  • Adam’s hitting 0-3 3 strikes outs, 2 BBs
  • Adam’s Pitching – No hitter (5 innings) 10 BBs

Game 2: (loss) Anarchy 6 vs Replacements 1

Adam played the field this game and tried to help his team with his bat, unfortunately struck out twice and grounded into a double play.

Game 3: (win) Red Team 0 vs Replacements 10 (2 inning run rule)

Game 3 went a little better for the Replacements as the 0-2 teams faced off in the elimination game. Unfortunately for the Red Team, they didn’t have a hard thrower which made it difficult to record outs on they day.

  • Adam’s pitching: 2 innings, 0 runs
  • Adam’s hitting: 3-4 (3) Homeruns, 9 RBIs.

Game 4 (loss) Replacements 2 vs Way2Beautiful 3

Adam was back on the mound for his 3rd start and was able to pick up a secondary pitch to show the recent Way2Beautiful offense a different. It was another long fought battle between the 2 clubs. Adam finally found control but it was some timely hitting by Way2Beautiful to walk off in double extra innings and end the day for the Replacements.

  • Adam’s hitting: 0-5
  • Adam’s pitching: 6 innings, (2) BBs, bunch of strike outs, 5 hits.

A new champion was crowned, “The Usual Suspects” who beat Black Dog Country Club to take the trophy.
